a casual way of saying goodbye

A homemade sort of goodbye from Suisse romande, somewhere between 'à bientôt' and 'see you round'. It is built from 'revoir' (to see again) with the noun ending '-ance' bolted on, and has never made it into a standard dictionary.

À la revoyance, on se reverra au marché la semaine prochaine !

Goes back at least to 1869, when Alfred de Bougy used it in his Vaudois novel 'Les Bourla papei ou brûleurs de papiers', with a character saying it while parting ways along the river Venoge.
