The daily challenge

Each of the three gives you a French idiom and four possible meanings, one of them right. The word for word translation is hidden. There is a hint to reveal it when nothing springs to mind.

Taking the hint still counts as a correct answer. It costs you half a point.

The three are fixed for the day. That is what makes a score worth comparing, since whoever you show it to faced the same puzzle.

It resets at midnight UTC.

Finishing gives you a row of squares. Green is a clean answer, amber means you took the hint, red means you were wrong. Send it to a friend. They had the same three idioms, so the comparison is a fair one.

Play on consecutive days and a streak builds. Miss one and it goes back to zero. The streak lives in your browser, not in an account, so there is nothing to sign up for.
